3 Roughnecks Unbeaten On 1st Day Of Regional

Ten University of Nebraska-Omaha wrestlers made it through the first day of competition on Friday, February 25 at the 2011 NCAA Division II Super Region 2 Tournament unscathed as they lead the event, which is being hosted by The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, with a total of 80 points.

Ashland University also had a solid first day of competition, sending eight wrestlers to the championship rounds while accumulating 64.5 points. Lurking behind the Eagles is the University of Central Oklahoma, who tallied 53.5 points on Friday.

Nebraska-Omaha, which has won the last two NCAA Division II National Championships, were led by Mario Morgan (141) and Ryan Pankoke (174) who each picked up a pair of pins in their opening bouts.

The host Roughnecks were led by Ben Sergent (125), who scored a pair of pins, while Michael Lybarger recorded a pair of victories to post 2-0 records on the first day of competition inside the Malcolm Athletic Center. Adam Walters also advanced with a quarterfinal victory.
