Roughnecks Complete GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay wrestling team completed the 2014 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Croy Gymnasium with a 1-2 record.

The Roughnecks began the day with a 31-15 loss to GLIAC champion Lake Erie before dropping a 28-10 decision to #17 Ashland.  They then ended the day with a 27-15 win over Tiffin.

Individually, Ben Sergent earned first team all-conference honors with a 3-0 record, which included two pins.

Jordan Cowell and Bradley Metz earned second team all-conference honors by going 2-1 at the championship event.

Lake Erie's Kevin Hoogenboom took home honors as the Coach of the Year while Evan Rosborough of the Storm earned Freshman of the Year honors.

Ashland's Bryson Hall claimed the Most Outstanding Wrestler award and the Storm ended up winning the conference title with a 3-0 record.

The Roughnecks will be back on the mat again on Feb. 7 when they face Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Ind.
