Roughnecks Take Down Greyhounds 38-4

The University of Findlay wrestling team earned a 38-4 win over the University of Indianapolis on Jan. 10 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Roughnecks lost their first match and then ripped off nine straight victories to claim the win.

Freshman Josh Wimer got the streak going with a 4-2 win over Nick Crume, who is ranked eighth nationally at 133. Freshman Ryan Skonieczny then majored Angelo Robles (25-10) at 141 before sophomore Nick Goebel, who is ranked fourth in the nation at 149, pinned Dylan Kavanaugh in 6:10.

Sophomore Joey White, ranked sixth at 157, claimed a 17-5 major decision win against Barry McGinley before sophomore Nic Skonieczny defeated Clayton Monebrake 11-4 at 165.

Sophomore Bradley Metz (174) and freshman Alec Bissell (184) each won by forfeit before sophomore Gerald Beck earned an 8-5 win over Brian Wagner in the 197-pound weight class. Sophomore Luke Fleming then put the finishing touches on the match with an 8-4 victory against Brian Snyder in the heavyweight division.

The Roughnecks will return to the mat on Jan. 17 at the Ranger Duals in Kenosha, Wis.
