Goebel Holds Top Spot | Roughnecks Ranked Tenth

Findlay, OH – On Thursday, Feb. 2, D2Wrestle.com released their latest edition of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Poll. The University of Findlay Rougnecks find themselves ranked tenth in the country after being ranked seventh for the last two weeks and are currently ranked third in Super Region Two.

The Roughnecks have three athletes ranked in the top 12 in the country in their respective weight classes.

Senior Nick Goebel is still in the top spot, ranked first in the country and the region at 149 pounds. The two-time all-American has gone 14-0 this season, with ten tech fall victories, and 100-27 in his career. He has scored 62 team points for the Roughnecks, a team-high.

Fellow senior Joey White is ranked seventh in the nation at 157 pounds and is the top wrestler in Super Region Two. White has gone 11-3 this season and is second on the team with 37 points scored in dual meet action.

At 174 pounds, senior Bradley Metz has moved up to the fifth spot in the nation and is ranked third in the region. Metz has had a solid year thus far, going 21-6 and scoring his team 36 points. Metz' top finish in a tournament this season came in the Findlay Open where he finished runner-up.

The Roughnecks have a big weekend ahead as they take on #9 Ashland University on the road on Friday, Feb. 3 and take on #12 Lake Erie College the following day, Saturday, Feb. 4 at home in Croy Gymnasium. Both duals will start at 7:00 pm.
