Turner Earns G-MAC Wrestler of the Week

Findlay, Ohio - On Monday, Jan. 8, University of Findlay junior Alonzo Turner has been named as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Wrestling Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Tracy Borah Duals in Gunnison, Colo. In the event, the Painesville, Ohio native put together a 4-0 record which helped the no. 16 Roughnecks finish a perfect 4-0 as well, including a win over no. 17 Western State Colorado. This is the first conference Athlete of the Week award of Turner's career.

Turner, ranked no. 6 in the nation at 165 pounds, began his day with a pin over his opponent from New Mexico Highlands. He followed that effort up with a win against no. 9 in the country at 165 pounds, Ryan Pellow of Western State. Turner dominated that match, earning a 10-3 victory. He later defeated his opponent from Adams State by a score of 3-1 and capped his day with a major decision victory, 15-6, over the 165-pound athlete from Colorado Mesa.

The Rougnecks are back on the road next Saturday, Jan. 13 when they travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin to participate in the Ranger Duals hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside.
