Metz, who is ranked fourth nationally in the 184-pound weight class, reached the finals with a 4-2 sudden victory win over Lake Erie's Tyler Hughes, who is ranked ninth nationally. Metz then dropped a 3-2 decision in the finals against second-ranked Jordan Murphy of Ashland.
