Wimers Take 3rd at Maryville

The University of Findlay wrestling team took part in the Maryville Kaufman Brand Bayly Open on Nov. 10 in Maryville, Mo. The Wimer brothers led the way as each of them took third place in their respective weight classes.

Josh Wimer, wrestling in the elite 149-pound bracket, went 4-1 on the day en route to the bronze. He reached the semifinals with a 7-1 win over Maryville's Gavin DeWitt before falling to Missouri's Brock Mauller. He then came away with two straight victories in the consolation bracket which included a 14-9 decision over McKendree's Isaiah Kemper to claim third place.

James Wimer went 4-1 as well to claim third place at 157. He began the day with a loss in the opening round and then ripped off four straight victories, claiming a 3-1, sudden victory over McKendree's Nate Smalling in the third place match.

Armani Robinson earned a fifth place finish in the elite 184-pound weight class by going 2-2. He won the fifth place match by a 4-2 decision over Missouri Valley's Tristan Ramberg.

In the amateur brackets, Justin West finished third with a 5-1 record. He pinned Illinois' Eddie Ordonez in 4:16 to take the bronze in the 149-pound weight class.

Mark Trifelos took fifth at 174 as well after sporting a 2-2 record at the event.
