Nelson Named NWCA Super Region III Coach of the Year

Findlay, Ohio- The National Wrestling Coaches Association named Shawn Nelson the 2023 Division II Super Region III Coach of the Year. 

Nelson, head coach of the Roughnecks, led his team to their first ever conference championship win since 2012 when they won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Wrestling Championship. It is the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Championship in program history. Most recently, Nelson led both Graham Shore and Jacob Kowalski to the qualification of the NCAA Division II National Championship. 

Nelson was also tabbed the Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012.
