Women's Soccer Picked to Finish 5th in GLIAC

GLIAC Women's Soccer Poll

The University of Findlay women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) this season as the league office unveiled their annual coaches poll on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

The Oilers racked up a total of 91 points in the poll as Grand Valley State University was tabbed as the early favorite to win the conference with 144 points.

The Lakers, who have won the last eight GLIAC titles, has made the NCAA Division II championship game three out of the past four years, winning titles in 2009 and 2010.

Findlay finished last season with a 7-9-1 mark, which included an 8-4-1 record in conference play.

The Oilers will have to make up for the loss of graduated senior Emily Beddoes, who was named the 2012 GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year.  The team also lost Megan Gallaway to graduation, who was a first team all-conference performer.  Both players were named first team all-region as well.

Head coach Crystal Dye, entering her second season at the helm of the program, will welcome back seniors Katie Burke, Ann Eichman and Sarah Silone to give the Oilers experience and leadership.

Burke scored three goals last season and led the team with seven assists.  Eichman and Silone each scored two goals apiece as well.

Junior Eryn Weber will also return after scoring two goals for the team in 2012.
