Oilers Fall 2-1 at Northwood

Midland, MI – The University of Findlay women's soccer team fell 2-1 on Friday, September 8 at Northwood University. The loss moves the Oilers to a 1-3 overall record.

The Timberwolves took the lead early in the match, and then added a second goal before going into halftime. The Oilers offense had limited scoring opportunities, with the only shot on goal in the half coming in the 27th minute from sophomore Sierra Peacock.

The second half was dominated by defense that did not allow a goal from either team for 44 minutes. Late in the 89th minute, the Oilers were able to get on the board by way of a goal from senior Jensen Kleis with an assist from freshman Samantha Church.

The Northwood defense would hold on for the duration of the match to earn the 2-1 decision.

The Oilers fired off nine shot attempts during the match, with five of those being on goal. Freshman Madison VanCucha would lead Findlay in shots on goal with two for the day, while freshman Karleigh Clere added one of her own in the 49th minute.

Findlay will continue their season on Sunday, September 10 when they travel to Saginaw Valley State University. The match will be a non-conference contest set to begin at 12:00 PM.
