Oilers Earn First G-MAC Victory

Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay women's soccer team defeated the Ursuline College Arrows in a final score of 4-3 to claim their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory on September 16 at DeHaven Field. With the win, Findlay improves to a 2-5 overall record and now has a G-MAC record of 1-2.

The Oilers were off to a quick start in the first half thanks to a goal by freshman Samantha Church that was scored directly from the corner in the 6th minute. Findlay scored again in the 10th and 12th minutes of the match, with goals from sophomore Chloe Marburger assisted by senior Lindsey Roeth and from freshman Karleigh Clere with an assist by Marburger.

The Arrows would respond with goals in the 15th and 40th minute of the half, leaving the score 3-2 in favor of the Oilers going into halftime.

Chloe Marburger found the back of the net again in the 66th minute with an assist from Senior Jensen Kleis. Ursuline would go on to score in the 74th minute, but the Oilers defense was able to leave it there to earn the 4-3 victory.

Findlay fired off 18 shots on the match, with 11 of those being on goal. Marburger scored her third and fourth goal of the season, while Kleis recorded her fifth assist for the year. Freshman Nicole Burke earned her first win in front of the net as an Oiler and recorded six saves on the day.

The Oilers will continue play on Thursday, September 21 when they travel to Ohio Valley University for a G-MAC contest set to begin at 1:00 PM.
