Oilers Advance to G-MAC Tournament Semifinals

Box Score

Findlay, OH – The fourth seeded University of Findlay women's soccer team hosted one of four quarterfinal games for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship against the fifth seeded Ohio Dominican Panthers. The Oilers came out with the win with a final score of 1-0 on Saturday, October 27. The Panthers finished their season with a season record of 10-6-1. Findlay improves to 11-3-2 on the season and will move on to the semifinal round of the G-MAC tournament.

The Oilers came out of the gates ready to fight in order to advance in the conference tournament and that's exactly what they did. Just under 20 minutes into the first half senior Megan Kupetz took a shot that the Panthers goalie deflected, leaving the ball loose in front of the net. Freshman Olivia Frank was there to score off the goalie deflection to give the Oilers the lead.

Going into the second half the Oilers kept the 1-0 lead. The Panthers put up a good fight but Findlay fought harder, despite having less shot and corner kick opportunities than Ohio Dominican.

Olivia Frank took two shots, one of which was the game deciding goal. Freshman Sami Hild, sophomore Shannon Marsh, and junior Ashley Rings each took one shot in the contest as well.

Junior Anna Money was a key component for the Oilers in the net as she made seven saves in the victory.

Findlay will play in the semifinal game of the G-MAC tournament on Thursday, November 1. They will face the winner of no. 1 seed Ohio Valley and no. 8 seed Ursuline.
