Oilers Shine Under New Lights

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay Oilers women's soccer team defeated the Tiffin Dragons on Sep. 23 at Armstrong Sports Complex following the Armstrong Illumination Dedication ceramony which celebrated the new lights that were installed at the facility thanks to the generosity of many donors including the lead donors, Todd and Stacy Teter. Findlay won the contest by a score of 2-0 to improve their record to 3-1-1 on the year with a 2-0-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Dragons fall to 0-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the G-MAC.

Both teams were held scoreless by some strong work from both goalkeepers in the first half. In the 71st minute the Oilers broke the tie when sophomore Hannah Rybicki scored off an assist by freshman Carley WagaskyMadeline Nartker added to the score when she scored on a free kick in the 77th minute.

Oilers goalkeeper sophomore Kennedy Slovak held the Dragons scoreless with three saves for her fifth career shutout.

Findlay will be back in action on Sep. 25 when they travel to Ursuline to take on the Arrows.
