Oilers In 5th At GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of competition at the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship in Jenison, Michigan on Wednesday, February 8. Both the men's and women's teams are currently in fifth place with 48 and 33 points, respectively.

Annie Currin took eighth place in the 1000 free with a school record-breaking and NCAA "B" standard time of 10:33.18 to lead the way.

Oiler Maddie Bell took sixth in the 3 meter dive while the women's 200 medley relay finished seventh (1:48.09) due to the combined efforts of Isadora Yanez, Ailsa Hershaw, Molly Cade, and Tanya Tikhonova. Mallory Ament finished 17th in the 1000 free (10:53.58).

On the men's side, Ryan Randall took 12th place in the 1000 free with a time of 9:56.39. Diego Santos, David Soutoul, Tim Andersson-Lind, and Colton Brauning grabbed fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:36.31).

The Oilers will continue the event again tomorrow.
