Oilers Finish 7th At GLIAC Championships

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the final day of the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship on Saturday, February 11 in Jenison, Michigan. The women finished the event in seventh place with 292 points while the men took seventh with 227 points.

David Soutoul took 9th in the 200 breast with a new school record and Division II "B" time of 2:03.58. Oiler Diego Santos made a "B" cut time of 52.95 in his 11th place finish in the 200 back.

Ryan Randall placed 10th in the 1650 free (16:56.35), Colton Sayers finished 1th in the 200 fly (1:57.09), and Tim Andersson-Lind took 12th in the 200 fly (1:58.14). The combined efforts of Soutoul, Randall, David Conti, and Colton Brauning resulted in a fifth place finish (3:11.31).

On the women's side, Molly Cade snatched third in the 200 fly with a NCAA "B" time and new school record of 2:04.65. Cade, along with Annie Currin, Ailsa Hershaw, and Emily Thomas placed sixth in the 400 free relay with their "B" cut time of 3:32.69.

Oiler Mallory Ament broke a Findlay record in the 1650 free with a time of 18:05.25 while Thomas grabbed 11th in the 100 free (52.95), for a Division II cut time. Teammates Hershaw and Tanya Tikhonova placed 10th (2:07.82) and 12th (2:09.65), respectively, in the 200 back.
