Findlay Women Defeat Ohio Wesleyan, 183-98

Results

The University of Findlay swimming and diving teams competed against Ohio Wesleyan at home on Friday, January 18. The women defeated the Battling Bishops 183-98 as the men fell 198-69.

The Oilers took home an astounding 19 individual first place finishes as well as two top honors for relay teams.

Kaley Holmstrom was a part of four first place finishes, including three individual golds. As part of the 200 medley relay team, Holmstrom, Isidora Yanez, Jillian Herbst, and Molly Cade clocked in at 1:52.06 for first. Holmstrom also touched the wall first in the 100 breast (1:07.54), 200 breast (2:28.80), and 200 IM (2:16.85).

Cade snatched the gold in both the 200 fly (2:13.87) and 100 fly (59.67). The 200 free relay team, consisting of Cade, Ailsa Hershaw, Annie Currin, and Emily Thomas, finished first with a time of 1:42.93. Hershaw placed first in the 100 back (1:02.45) while Tanya Tikhonova snatched the number one spot in the 200 back (2:14.75).

Currin took top honors in both the 1000 free (10:56.45) and 500 free (5:23.76). Thomas generated three gold places with times of 1:58.77 in the 200 free,54.80 in the 100 free, and 25.70 in the 50 free.

Maddie Bell came out on top for both the 1 meter (229.81) and 3 meter (234.53) dives.

On the men's side, Diego Santos took gold in the 100 back (57.21), 200 back (2:14.04), and 100 fly (54.93). Colton Sayers placed first in the 200 fly at 2:02.42 and 500 free at 5:03.94, respectively.

The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, January 26, for the Wayne State Diving Invitational in Detroit, MI.
