Oilers Ink 16

Oilers Ink 16

The Oilers men's and women's swimming and diving teams will welcome 16 new tankers for the 2013-14 season.  Five early signees are joined by nine newly inked Oilers.

In November, Emily Annen (Upper Arlington HS/Upper Arlington, OH), Lindsey Norris (Rutherford B Hayes HS/Delaware, OH) and Kyleigh Rubis (Western HS/Auburn, MI) signed on as Oilers for the upcoming school year (2013-2014) on the women's side.

"We were very fortunate to have some of our top recruits commit with us in the early signing period," said head coach Andrew Makepeace. "Emily, Lindsey, and Kyleigh are all strong in their main events, but provide a great deal of versatility in other areas that will help compliment and strengthen our team.  I am excited for them to arrive on campus next fall."

Aaron Mitchell (Woodford County HS/Versailles, KY) and Jonathon Marble (Homestead HS/Fort Wayne, IN) were the first men to ink their National Letter of Intent with UF.

"Aaron will be a tremendous contributor in a number of events, especially butterfly, while Jon gives us some sorely needed distance talent.  These guys will help set the foundation for the future."

As the commitments started rolling in this spring, there was a great deal of excitement in the air around the Sink Natatorium.  Hannah Schreiber (Northmont HS/Clayton, OH), Justice Spicer (Kettering Fairmont HS/Springfield, OH) Emily Roth (Lakota East HS/Liberty Township, OH), Alison Slocum (Huron HS/Huron, OH) and Marissa McDonald (Bishop Dwenger HS/Fort Wayne, IN) all signed on for the upcoming fall.

"We have a strong incoming class for the fall.  The depth we will have next year in each event is going to work greatly in our favor.  We have very talented student-athletes who posses a great deal of potential joining the squad this fall."

The Oiler men will also be adding an influx of talent this upcoming fall.  The early signees will be joined by freshly inked Cody Craig (Homestead HS/Fort Wayne, IN), Marshall Hull (Fort Recovery HS/Fort Recovery, OH), Tyler Matthews (Northridge HS/Goshen, IN), and Matthew Sheehan (Plainfield HS/Joliet, IL).

The final signing date for the 2013-14 Academic year is August 1, 2014.
