Holmstrom Takes 16th And Sets New School Record on Day 2 of Nationals

Kaley Holmstrom took sixteenth place in the 400-yard individual medley on Day 2 of the NCAA Division II National Championship, which took place on Thursday, March 13 in Geneva, Ohio.

Holmstrom crossed the line at 4:30.56 in the finals and will earn All-American honors in the process.  Holmstrom also set a new school record in the preliminary round with a time of 4:28.44.

Jessica Ward finished in 26th place in the 100-yard butterfly with a career best time of 57.24.

"We had another great day at the pool," head coach Andrew Makepeace explained.  "Jess and Kaley both set career bests in their events which was awesome. Kaley had a long day with the 400 IM twice, but it was good to see them swimming fast.  We have a big day tomorrow as Ashleigh is on the low board; Kaley and Jess have their primary 100's.  This meet has been the most competitive it has ever been and we are excited what the weekend will bring!  Our best days are still ahead!"
