Oilers Finish BGSU Invite

The University of Findlay women's tennis team completed the second day of competition at the Bowling Green State University Invitational on Sep. 14 in Bowling Green, Ohio.

The Oilers were led by Luciana Pereyra who captured gold in her singles bracket with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Tiffin's Shea Foster. She also teamed with Mady Arquette to reach the finals of their doubles division with a 7-5 victory over Oberlin's Delaney Black and Dina Nouaime before falling 6-0 to Toledo's Eileen Carney and Morera in the championship.

Arquette reached the finals in her singles bracket with a 5-7, 6-0, 7-6 (3) win over Oakland's Chelsea Dzenga. She then fell 6-3, 6-4 to Toledo's Laura Morera in the championship.

Kayley Gimbel reached the finals in her singles competition with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Oberlin's Maja Shaw before falling 6-0, 6-1 to Bowling Green's Laura Maia Silveira.

Laiying Alvarado, who was 2-0 on Friday in singles competition, fell by retirement to Oakland's Ava Thielman in the semifinals to end her tournament.
