Oilers Complete ITA Regional

The University of Findlay women's tennis team competed at the International Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional over the weekend in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Laura Brito, who was seeded tenth, led the way by going 3-1 in the singles B division. Brito started the tournament with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Walsh's Sophia Khairutdinova before she won 6-4, 6-4 against Malone's Helena Colvee. She then picked up a win by retirement against Wayne State's Carla Jewell before falling 7-6, 6-0 to Indianapolis' Anna Valiaeva, who was seeded second.

Eliza Kirov finished 2-1 in singles B competition while Madison Arquette, Cristina Nieto Sota, and Taylor Lighty went 1-1. Kayley Gimbel also competed and went 0-2.

In singles A competition, Laiying Alvarado and Samantha Sweet each went 1-1 and Luciana Pereyra finished 2-2.

In doubles A competition, Alvarado and Sweet went 1-1 while Pereyra and Arquette went 1-1 as well.

In doubles B, Nieto Sota and Lighty finished 2-1 and Gimbel and Kirov went 1-2.
