Oilers Pick Up Three All-Conference Athletes | Pereyra Earns Elite 25

Owensboro, Ky. – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced its' selections for the 2022 women's tennis all-conference teams on Friday, April 22 at the beginning of the Great Midwest Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. Findlay, which tied for the regular season title and is the number one seed for the event, took home multiple awards including first team honorees Laiying Alvarado and Elina Ivanova, second team honoree Samantha Sweet, and Elite 25 Winner Luciana Pereyra.

Senior Laiying Alvarado, last year's G-MAC Player of the Year, was named first team all-conference for the third consecutive season. In conference doubles matches this season, Alvarado had a record of 4-2, teaming up with Samantha Sweet for each of those matches. In singles action, Alvarado had a perfect 5-0 record and had one match that went unfinished, a match in which she was leading 7-5, 3-2.

Joining Alvarado on first team is freshman Elina Ivanova who played much of the year at first singles, boasting a record of 4-2 in conference action. She also had a record of 3-2 in doubles play.

Senior Samantha Sweet earned second team all-conference, her fourth all-conference honor of her career. She was named first team all-conference in her freshman and sophomore campaigns including being named G-MAC Player of the Year in that junior year. Sweet has now earned second team in back-to-back seasons. This year in G-MAC play, Sweet went 4-2 and had a singles record of 5-2, playing in multiple spots in the lineup.

Earning the G-MAC's Elite 25 Award is Luciana Pereyra. The award is given to the player in the conference who will be playing in the G-MAC Championship Tournament and has the highest cumulative GPA. Pereyra boasts a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA and is majoring in business administration.
