Women's Tennis Earns Five All-G-MAC Selections | Kovacevic Named Freshman of the Year

2022-23 Women's Tennis All-G-MAC

Owensboro, Ky. - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced its' selections for the 2023 women's tennis all-conference teams on Thursday, April 20 at the beginning of the Great Midwest Women's Tennis Championship Tournament. Findlay, which is ranked fifth in the latest Midwest Regional rankings, took home multiple awards including Freshman of the Year Anamarija Kovacevic, first team honorees Elina Ivanova and Emily Hadler, and second team honorees Kovacevic, Laiying Alvarado, and Laura Brito.

Freshman of the Year – Anamarija Kovacevic

In her first season of competition, Anamarija Kovacevic had a standout campaign, helping lead the Oilers on the court all season. In G-MAC matches, Kovacevic had a singles record of 4-1 and a doubles record of 3-2. She is the first G-MAC Freshman of the Year in women's tennis since Laiying Alvarado won in 2018-19. Kovacevic also earned second team all-G-MAC honors this season.

First Team

Earning the second first team all-G-MAC award of her career is sophomore Elina Ivanova, who played the entire year at first singles. Ivanova had a doubles record of 5-2 in G-MAC matches this season and had a singles record of 7-1, the best singles win percentage by any first-singles player in the conference.

Junior Emily Hadler picks up her first all-G-MAC award of her career, earning first team after a standout season. In singles this year, Hadler went 6-0 in G-MAC play while producing a record of 5-2 in doubles.

Second Team

Taking home second team all-conference is Findlay's all-time wins leader, Laiying Alvarado. A two-time first team all-G-MAC pick and former G-MAC Player of the Year, Alvarado, rehabbing from injury much of the year, put together a G-MAC record of 3-0 in singles and a record of 3-1 in doubles.

Senior Laura Brito earns second team all-G-MAC after going 6-1 in singles this season and 5-2 in doubles.
