Volleyball drops season finale 3-1

The women's volleyball team closed out its season with a 3-1 loss on Sunday to GLIAC foe Northern Michigan.

Northern Michigan, ranked #19 in the AVCA DII national poll, won with set scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-18, and 25-21. Findlay finishes with a season record of 13-15 and 7-12 in the GLIAC. Northern Michigan moves to 21-5 and 15-4 in the GLIAC.

Findlay got good offensive production from freshmen middle hitters Danielle Taflinger with 14 kills and Mackenzie Vorst with 7. Jessica VonIns recorded eight kills, 13 assists and eight digs. Erin Thomasson also hit seven kills and finished with a .240 hitting percentage.

The Wildcats' Andree Ring and Sami Vierk led NMU hitters with 13 kills. Ana Lopes added 11 kills and 14 digs for Northern Michigan. Libero Kristin Wetzel led all defensive players with 24 digs.

Northern Michigan gained an advantage on Findlay behind the service line, rattling off nine aces with only five errors. The Oilers serving wasn't as consistent, with Findlay notching five aces but also 13 errors for the match.

The match marked the final collegiate game for Findlay seniors Megan Florence, Abby LaVigne and Sarah Schroeder.
