Findlay Defeats GLIAC Foe Northwood

The University of Findlay volleyball team defeated Northwood University by a score of 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-19, 26-24) on Friday, Oct. 11 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers had four players reach double digit kills in the victory and were led by senior Mackenzie Vorst, who recorded a double-double.

Vorst tallied a team-high 11 kills and also posted a team-high 14 digs in the win.

Sophomore Julie Lyons added 11 kills, hitting .474 for the match, while senior Danielle Taflinger and freshman Hannah Tong recorded ten kills apiece.

Taflinger's kill total leaves her only seven shy of becoming the Oilers eighth member of the 1,000-kill club.

Junior Amanda Calhoun posted 39 assists, five digs and four kills while sophomore Andrea Roach tallied three kills.

The Oilers had the hot hand serving as they collected 12 aces as a team, led by Calhoun with four and sophomore Becca Shoemaker with three.

The Oilers are back in action tomorrow afternoon, September 12, at 2pm in Croy Gymnasium as they welcome GLIAC foe Hillsdale College.
