Findlay Rolls Over GLIAC Opponent Malone

The University of Findlay volleyball team rolled in their first game in Canton, OH as they handled Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Malone University by a final of 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 28-26) on Saturday, November 9. The win is the Oilers seventh in a row.

Handling the bulk of the Oilers offense was senior Mackenzie Vorst who gathered 17 kills. On the defensive side of the net, Vorst picked up five digs and two blocks.

Collecting double-digit kills for the third straight game was freshman Hannah Tong who had 14 kills in the match. The outside hitter has 53 kills in the three game stretch.

Taking on a do-it-all role was junior Amanda Calhoun who padded the stat line by gathering three kills, 35 assists, 15 digs, and three blocks. The setter led the team in the latter three statistics for the match.

Another threat was senior Danielle Taflinger who had six kills and three blocks for the Oilers.

Junior Samantha Granger, sophomore Becca Shoemaker and senior Brittany Hall played well defensively as they amassed seven, seven, and 11 digs, respectively.

Freshman Shannon Ebert served well as she had two aces for Findlay.

The Oilers take the court at 3:30 this afternoon as they take on Wheeling Jesuit University in their second game of the day.
