Findlay Gets First Loss in Kansas City

The University of Findlay volleyball team dropped their first match of the season at the hands of Missouri Western State University on Friday, September 5, by a final of 3-1 (25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17). The loss moves the Oilers record to 1-1 on the young season.

Sophomore Hannah Tong again took the reins offensively as she collected 14 kills on 31 attempts for a .387 kill percentage. 

Also playing well was junior Julie Lyons, who had a .412 kill percentage as she gathered eight kills on 17 tries. The middle blocker also defended the net as she totaled five blocks in the match.

Setter Amanda Calhoun aided the offense with her 37 assists. The senior also played well defensively as she amassed eight digs.

Leading the team in digs was junior Becca Shoemaker. The defensive specialist picked up 11 digs.

Freshman Erika Roach put forward a solid performance in just her second collegiate match as she picked up six kills and seven digs for the Oilers.

Findlay is back on the court tonight at 5pm as they take on Northwest Missouri State University.
