UF Volleyball Releases 2015 Schedule

2015 Volleyball Schedule

The University of Findlay volleyball team is coming off of a GLIAC South Division title, their first since 2003, and will open their 2015 campaign in Golden, Colo.

The Oilers kick off their season on Sep. 4 with a pair of matches against Minnesota State-Mankato and Minnesota State-Moorhead in Golden, Colo. They will then battle Western Oregon and Pace on Sep. 5 to conclude their trip to Colorado.

On Sep. 10, the Oilers will have their first home match of the season against Ursuline. They will then host Pitt-Johnstown on Sep. 11 before facing Mercyhurst and Cedarville on Sep. 12 in Croy Gymnasium. After their four-match home stretch, the Oilers will head out on the road to open up GLIAC play at Ashland on Sep. 18. They will then continue their road swing at Lake Erie on Sep. 19, at Lake Superior State on Sep. 25 and at Northwood on Sep. 26.

The Oilers close the opening month of the season on Sep. 29 with a home match against Hillsdale and open the month of October with four straight in Croy. They will host Michigan Tech on Oct. 2, Northern Michigan on Oct. 3, Saginaw Valley State on Oct. 9 and Wayne State on Oct. 10.

The GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament is slated to take place on Oct. 16-17 in Aurora, Ill. The Oilers will play three matches in the tournament against opponents who are to be determined. The team will then hit the road to face Ferris State and Grand Valley State on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24, respectively. Ferris State ended last season ranked 19th in the nation while Grand Valley State concluded the 2014 campaign ranked 7th.

The Oilers close the second month of the season at home as they are scheduled to host Tiffin on Oct. 30 and Ohio Dominican on Oct. 31.

On Nov. 3 the Oilers will be at Hillsdale. They will then travel to Walsh on Nov. 6 and Malone on Nov. 7 before returning home to host Wheeling Jesuit, who ended last year ranked ninth in the nation, on Nov. 11. They will then close the regular season in Croy Gymnasium against Lake Erie on Nov. 13 and Ashland on Nov. 14.

The 2015 GLIAC Tournament is slated to run from Nov. 18-22 with the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional following on Dec. 3-5. The NCAA Division II Elite 8 is scheduled for Dec. 10-12.

The Oilers finished last season with a 23-7 record under the guidance of head coach Wick Colchagoff, who was named the 2014 GLIAC Coach of the Year. Junior Hannah Tong returns to lead the team after being named the GLIAC Attacker of the Year while sophomore Nickyla Garverick is back after being named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year and the GLIAC Blocker of the Year. Both players were first team all-region picks and honorable mention All-American selections.
