Oilers Hit the Road for 3 GLIAC Matches

The Oilers will have three matches this week. They will begin the week on Sep. 27 at Wayne State (7pm) and close the week with a pair of matches in the Upper Peninsula against Michigan Tech (5pm) and Northern Michigan (2pm) on Sep. 30 and Oct. 1, respectively.

GLIAC South Division Player of the Week

Amanda Winner, a sophomore outside hitter on the Oilers volleyball team, was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Sep. 26.

Winner led the Oilers to a 2-1 record last week by accumulating 45 kills, 20 digs and 10 aces. She began the week with 13 kills, seven digs and three aces in the Oilers 3-1 loss at Cedarville on Sep. 20. She then hammered 17 kills to go along with five digs and four aces in the Oilers 3-1 win over Lake Superior State on Sep. 23 before ending the week with 15 kills and eight digs in a sweep of Saginaw Valley State on Sep. 24.

Findlay

The Oilers are 8-4 on the year with a 4-0 record in conference play. Senior Hannah Tong has led the team with 166 kills while Winner is right behind her with 163.

Junior Nickyla Garverick has recorded 98 kills and 33 blocks while sophomore Hailee Olson has a team-best 467 assists to go along with 12 aces and 15 blocks.

Senior Mallorie Kah has been a force at the net with 45 blocks while sophomore Kara Scherger has covered the whole floor on defense with 194 digs.

Wayne State

The Warriors are 10-2 on the season with a 3-1 record in conference play. They feature a balanced offensive attack with four players over the 100-kill mark this year.

Hailey Richardson leads the way with 139 kills and is followed by Hannah Moore with 132. Mikayla Shell has recorded 116 kills and Michelle Asiedu has racked up 105.

Brittany Guldan orchestrates the offense and has accumulated 494 assists while Ellie Rodriquez has 171 digs to lead the Warriors defensive unit.

Michigan Tech

The Huskies are 6-6 on the year with a 3-1 record in GLIAC play. They have been led by Aubrey Ficek and MacAulay Peterson, who have totaled 138 and 122 kills, respectively.

Rachel Pohlod has set the tempo on offense with 439 assists and Halie Hart has recorded 187 digs for the defense.

Northern Michigan

The Wildcats are 8-6 on the year with a 2-2 mark in league play. They have been paced by Madison Whitehead and her 161 kills and 40 blocks.

Bridget Bussell has played well as well with 137 kills and 56 blocks while Kayla Chosa has produced 134 kills and 45 blocks.
