Oilers Down Wildcats 3-0

On Saturday, October 1, The University of Findlay volleyball team defeated Northern Michigan University 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 34-32) in Marquette, Mich.  With the win, the Oilers are now 10-5 on the season and 6-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The three headed monster of junior Nickyla Garverick, senior Hannah Tong, and sophomore Amanda Winner led the Oilers offensively as each one reached the double digit kill mark.

Garverick ended the match with a .600 kill percentage, while leading the team with 13 kills.  Tong pounded out 12 kills and also added six total blocks.  Winner recorded 10 kills, added six digs, and two aces.

Sophomore Hailee Olson did a little bit of everything for Findlay.  She ended the match with 33 assists, three kills, two aces, four digs, and two blocks.

Sophomore Kara Scherger and senior Mallorie Kah anchored the defense.  Scherger led the team with 10 digs and Kah had a team high six total blocks for Findlay.

The Oilers next match is at Northwood University on Friday, October 7.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
