Oilers Win Over Lake Erie on Senior Night

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's volleyball team won against Lake Erie College in a three-set match (25-17, 25-11, 25-13) on Saturday Nov. 13 in Niekamp Arena. This brings the Oilers to an 16-8 record on the year and 12-4 in the conference.  

The Oilers were led by freshman Journey Blevins. She recorded 13 kills on 18 attempts leading her to hit an impressive .667. Blevins also added three blocks.  

Assisting Blevins was senior Madison Moore. Moore assisted with 9 kills and hit .300 on the match. She also added three blocks. 

Junior Emma Meyer had 7 kills, hitting an impressive .778. Sophomore Hannah Bruns had 6 kills and junior Lexi Sauber had 4 kills.  

Senior Abigail Schroeder had 34 assists on the night.  

The Oilers dominated the serving game. Senior Ashton Terrill recorded 7 aces, freshman Ava Doster had 4, senior Olivia Morrison had 2, and freshman Journey Blevins had 1. Terrill's 7 aces tonight is the fifth best in program history behind her own record (9) that she set earlier this year against Malone. 

The Oilers dominated the first set hitting 0.516 and then held the Storm to a hitting percentage of -.08 in the second set. In the final set, the Oilers would hit .368 while the Storm hit .105. The Oilers hit .436 for the match compared to Lake Erie's .132. In fact, the Oilers never trailed in the second or third set.  

The Oilers are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 16 when they compete in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Quarterfinals. The Oilers are awaiting the official seeding to determine their opponent.
