Oilers Finish 2nd At Wilmington Fall Classic

The University of Findlay men's cross country team won the Wilmington College Fall Classic on Friday, October 14 in Wilmington, Ohio.  The men finished the event with 78 points as Wright State University came in a close second with 86 points.

Shoayb Bascal led the Oilers and placed 12th at the event with a time of 25:33.64, the fourth best mark in school history.

Sean Jones took 20th at 26:02.07, Justin Eilerman finished 21st with a time of 26:02.42 and Tim Majoy was 25th after crossing the finish line in 26:11.45.

Jake Hayes (26:28.65), Joe Guerra (27:08.61), Luis Velasco (27:52.41), Brock Lloyd (28:52.50), Connor Walthour (28:54.36), Alex Betts (29:42.65) and Dillon Webster (29:48.96) also competed for Findlay at the event.

The women's team finished the race in second place with 105 points as The Ohio State University won the event with 83 total points.

Christine Zimmermann led the charge and took second with a time of 18:33.98, the third best mark in school history.

Sam Hassen (19:25.82) and Rachel Hosie (19:30.35) aided the Oilers cause by taking 18th and 22nd, respectively.

Alexa Stults (19:40.46), Abigail Magner (19:46.31), Kayla Sendelbach (20:21.19), Erica Goeltzenleuchter (21:02.52), Deidre Latham (21:30.36), Taylor Mohr (21:53.57), Shelby Geyer (22:37.15 and Rebecca Hoffman (23:43.29) also competed for Findlay at the event.

The Oilers will now prepare for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship, slated to take place on October 22 in Ashland, Ohio.
