Track Finishes Final Day Of Oiler Opener

The University of Findlay men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed the second day of the Oiler Opener on Saturday, December 3 in the Malcolm Athletic Center.

Raven Clay led the women's team by placing first in the 200 meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 25.45, and the 60 meter hurdles with another NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.50.

In the women's shot put, Jessica Rowland finished fourth with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 44'07.50 while in the women's high jump, Pam Showman and Brittany Thomas placed fourth and fifth with same leaps of 5'03.75.

Jhazmyn Anderson, Kristen Gaerke and Deidre Latham placed sixth, seventh and eighth in the women's 600 meter run with times of 1:42.09, 1:44.12 and 1:44.37, respectively.

On the men's side, Timothy Sanders took first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.30 while John Guagenti won the 400 meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 48.71.

Cory Vales and Glen Forsythe led the Oilers in the field events with top finishes.  Vales took the top place in the high jump with an NCAA provisional leap of 6'08.25.  Forsythe placed first in the long jump with a jump of 22'09.00, and fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 42'09.50.

Colin Thomas inched out Forsythe in the triple jump with a distance of 44'08.00 which was good enough for third.

In the men's shot put, Darren Bass took fourth with an NCAA provisional throw of 53'05.00, while Taylor Miller finished fifth with a provisional throw of 52'03.25.

Dillon Webster was the top finisher in men's distance events with a second place finish in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:21.65, while Andrew Leemaster took third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:05.01.

Shawnathan Fort and Curtis Smithey took third in their respective events.  Fort finished with a time of 22.99 in the 200 meter dash while Smithey finished with a time of 36.56 in the 300 meter dash.

The team of Sanders, Fort, Smithey and Guagenti closed out the day with a second place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:21.93.
