Oilers Complete Record-Breaking Day At Doug Raymond Invitational

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams completed a successful day at the Doug Raymond Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 in Kent, Ohio.

Jessica Rowland had a record breaking day in the shot put event with a third place, NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 48'11.75.  That mark was good enough to set a new UF record, shattering the old record of 46'6.00.  Rowland also took third in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 59'10.50.

On the men's side, Cory Vales and Shane Shockey each earned a first place finish.  Vales finished with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 7'00.25 in the high jump while Shockey earned an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of his own with a height of 17'00.75 in the pole vault.

Darren Bass took fifth in the shot put event with an NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 54'00.50 while Taylor Miller finished eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 50'11.00.

The track and field teams will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 20th when they host the Northwest Ohio Invitational inside the Malcolm Athletic Center in Findlay, Ohio.
