#7 Men, #13 Women Track And Field Teams Complete Golden Flash Tune-Up

The University of Findlay of men and women's track and field teams completed the Golden Flash Tune-Up on Saturday, Feb. 18th in Kent, Ohio.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Shawnathan Fort, Curtis Smithey, John Guagenti and Tim Sanders took first with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:14.39.  Individually, Guagenti finished first in the 200-meter dash with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 21.86, Fort took third in the 400-meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 49.28, and Sanders placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.41.

In other running events, Joe Guerra took first in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:32.15, while Dillon Webster placed second in the 800-meter run with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:53.44.

In men's field events, Derrick Vicars had a solid day with a school record, NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 61'04.00 to take first in the shot put, and placed first in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 63'05.50.

Cory Vales took first in the high jump with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 7'01.00, while Shane Shockey's NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 16'04.75 earned him a first place finish in the pole vault.

On the women's side, the 4x400-meter relay team of Raven Clay, Christine Zimmermann, Kristen Gaerke and Jhazmyn Anderson finished third with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:54.00.  Individually, Clay took first in the 200-meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 24.85, Zimmermann placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.99, and Anderson placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.24.

In the field events, Jessica Rowland's NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 63'04.00 in the weight throw was good enough for second, and NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 49'06.25 in the shot put scored her a third place finish.

Brittany Thomas took second in the high jump with a mark of 5'40.50.

Earlier this weekend, Clay competed in the Ohio State Tune-Up placing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8.35, while Sanders placed first in the 60-meter hurdles for the men with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.05.
