Oilers Set Records At Nationals

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams completed day one of the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Friday, March 9th in Mankato, Minn.

Derrick Vicars achieved All-American status for his third place finish in the weight throw, setting a new school record with a distance of 70'00.25 while Cory Vales also achieved All-American honors for his sixth place finish in the high jump with a mark of 6'11.50.

John Guagenti will be an All-American by qualifying for the finals tomorrow with his seventh place finish in the prelims of the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.76.

The men are currently in sixth place with nine total points, while Grand Canyon leads the field with 25 points.

On the women's side, Jessica Rowland is an All-American for her third place finish in the weight throw with a school record mark of 65-03.25.

Raven Clay's second place finish in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles qualifies her for the finals tomorrow and will make her an All-American in the event.

Overall, the women are in seventh place with six points while Grand Valley leads the field with 45.

The event will conclude tomorrow.
