Clay, Shockey Win Gold At Nationals

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams completed the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 10th in Mankato, Minn.

Shane Shockey earned All-American honors and won his first national championship in the pole vault with a mark of 17-00.75, while Raven Clay also took All-American honors as she broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles, and was crowned national champion with a time of 8.18.

Derrick Vicars earned All-American honors as he took second place in the shot put with a heave of 58-11.50, and All-American John Guagenti took fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.04, and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team, with Curtis Smithey, Tim Sanders and Dillon Webster, that took sixth with a time of 3:15.99.

As a team, the men finished in fourth, their best finish ever at nationals, with 35 total points, while the women took 10th overall with 21.
