Oilers Complete Day One Of Split Meet Action

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams completed day one of the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. and the Jessie Owens Track Classic in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, April 13th.

Derrick Vicars and Jessica Rowland competed in the discuss event for the Oilers in Columbus.  Vicars finished fourth with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 52.51 while Rowland took third with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 48.54.

At the Sea Ray Relays, Tim Sanders capped off a busy day with a first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 52.50.  He also took 12th in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.58.

In the 800-meter run, Dillon Webster finished fifth with a time of 1:53.98 while Joe Guerra took 12th (1:55.17) and Jacob Hayes took 14th (1:55.97). 

Shoayb Bascal took third in the 10,000-meter run setting a new Findlay record with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 30:36.50 while Tim Majoy finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:29.24).

Curtis Smithey finished 12th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.67.

On the women's side, Raven Clay finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 13.36 while Alexa Stults took 11th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:44.19.

The Oilers will complete this weekend's action tomorrow.
