Oilers Complete Final Day At All-Ohio Championships

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams completed the final day of the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, April 21st at Miami of Ohio University.

On the men's side, Derrick Vicars broke his own school shot put record with an NCAA automatic qualifying, second place heave of 61'08.25.  Taylor Miller finished third in the event with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 57'01.00 while Darren Bass finished sixth with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 56'04.75.

Vicars also placed second in the discuss event with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 171'01, while Corey Vales placed first in the high jump with a NCAA provisional mark of 6'11.75.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Timothy Sanders, Curtis Smithey, John Guagenti and Dillon Webster placed second with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:13.07.

Guagenti also placed second in the 400-meter dash with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 47.25 while Smithey finished eighth in the same event with a time of 49.69.

Sanders finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.80) and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (54.17).

On the women's side, the 4x400-meter relay team of Jhazmyn Anderson, Christine Zimmermann, Shelby Stumps and Catherine Wiemers finished sixth with a time of 3:57.86.

Zimmermann also placed ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.57.

Brittany Thomas finished fourth in the high jump with a time of 5'03.75, while Jessica Rowland finished seventh in the shot put (46'10.75) and ninth in the discuss (149'01).

Pam Showman placed ninth in the heptathlon with 4,322 points.

The men and women will be back in action next weekend at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
