Oilers Complete Ashland Alumni Open

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field team completed the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday, April 28th in Ashland, Ohio.

Darren Bass and Taylor Miller finished fourth and fifth in the shot put with NCAA provisional qualifying heaves of 55'09.25 and 54'08.00, respectively, while Colin Thomas placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.25.

Tim Majoy placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:06.72, and Jacob Miller finished ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.71.

In women's action, Pam Showman led the way by placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.13.  In the 400-meter dash, Catherin Wiemers finished fifth (1:02.27), Emily Caudill took seventh (1:02.54), Kristen Gaerke took eighth (1:02.74) and Shelby Stump finished ninth (1:03.06).

Stump also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.55, while Caudill and Wiemers finished seventh (28-01) and eighth (28.54), respectively, while Samantha Hassen took fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:46.85.

In field events, Kendra Averesch finished fifth in the shot put with a heave of 43'11.25, and Brittany Thomas took eighth in the high jump with a mark of 5'05.00.

The team will be back in action on Thursday, May 3rd when the travel to Allendale, Michigan for the GLIAC Championship.
