Track Completes Day Two Of GLIAC Championships
The University of Findlay men and women's track & field teams completed day two of the GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 3rd in Allendale, Mich.
For the men, Cory Vales placed second in the high jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 6'09.00, while Cody Crockett set a new school record in the javelin with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 207'06. Derrick Vicars finished fourth in the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 195'08.
Shoayb Bascal finished fifth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:07.36.
In preliminary events, John Guagenti qualified for the 200-meter dash (21.45) and 400-meter dash (47.25), while Tim Sanders qualified for the 110-meter hurdles (14.76) and 400-meter hurdles (53.10).
Other qualifiers were Dillon Webster in the 800-meter run (1:52.88), Justin Eilerman in the 1,500-meter run (4:01.04), and Michael Travis in the 400-meter dash (49.04).
The men are currently in sixth place with 24 total points while Grand Valley State holds a firm grasp on first with 76.
On the women's side, Jessica Rowland placed second and set a new school record in the hammer throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 201'09, and placed second in the javelin with a mark of 117'02.
Rachel Hosie finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:55.77, while Pam showman finished sixth in the heptathlon with 4,347 total points.
In preliminary events, Raven Clay qualified for the 100-meter dash (11.71), 200-meter dash (24.74), and 100-meter hurdles (13.16).
Her time in the 100-meter hurdles was good enough for a new school record as well.
Other qualifiers are Jhazmyn Anderson in the 400-meter dash (58.77), Christine Zimmermann in the 800-meter run (2:17.34), and Alexa Stults in the 1,500-meter run (4:49.84).
The women's team is currently in fifth place with 23 points, while Grand Valley State holds the lead with 77 points.
The GLIAC Outdoor Championships will conclude tomorrow.
