Oilers Have Big Day At Cardinal Twilight

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field teams competed in split meet action at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, and at the Cardinal Twilight Classic in Louisville, Ky.

Raven Clay qualified for the 100-meter hurdles final tomorrow at the Georgia Tech Invitational placing fifth with a time of 13.44.

At the Twilight Classic, the Oilers had a big day.

For the women, Jessica Rowland placed first in the hammer throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 201'01 and broke the UF record in the shot put with a  seventh place, NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 47'05.25.

On the men's side, Derrick Vicars set a new Findlay record in the shot put with a first place, NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 63'09.00, while Darren Bass finished seventh with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 57'05.00.

Vicars also placed third in the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 204'00, and fourth in the discus with another NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 179'10.

Cody Crocket placed first in the javelin with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 206'11, while Glen Forsythe took first in the triple jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 48'04.75.

In the high jump, Cory Vales placed second with an NCAA provisional mark of 6'09.75, while Justin Eilerman set a new UF record in the 1,500-meter run with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:52.21.
