Oilers Compete at GVSU and Georgia Tech

Several members of The University of Findlay men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational and Grand Valley State Lance Chance on Saturday, May 12.

At Georgia Tech, the Oilers 4x400-meter relay team of John Guagenti, Curtis Smithey, Dillon Webster and Michael Travis set a new school record with their fourth place NCAA provisional time of 3:10.74.

Tim Sanders added a ninth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a provisional time of 52.46.

Raven Clay finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with an automatic qualifying time of 13.44 and teamed with Christine Zimmermann, Jhazmyn Anderson and Shelby Stump to take ninth in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:51.44.

Zimmermann also added a provisional time of 2:13.47 in the 800-meter run, which was good for 24th place.

At Grand Valley State, Glen Forsythe won the triple jump with a provisional mark of 49'05.75 while Cody Crockett and Cory Vales were also victorious in their respective events.

Crockett won the javelin with a provisional heave of 202'03 while Vales was the top placer in the high jump at 6'05.5, also a provisional mark.

Pam Showman added a fourth place finish in the high jump at 5'04.
