Multiple Oilers Earn All-Region Honors

The University of Findlay men's and women's outdoor track and field teams were well represented in the Midwest all-region honors, which was released on May 15 by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three earned the all-region distinction for the 2012 outdoor season.

On the men's side, John Guagenti earned the honor in three events (200, 400, 4x400) while Derrick Vicars also earned the honor in three events (shot put, discus, hammer throw).

Tim Sanders earned the honor in the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles while Shoayb Bascal (10,000), Darren Bass (shot put), Cody Crockett (javelin), Glen Forsythe (triple jump), Taylor Miller (shot put), Curtis Smithey (4x400), Michael Travis (4x400), Cory Vales (high jump) and Dillon Webster (4x400) captured the honor in their respective events.

On the women's side, Jessica Rowland captured the honor in four events (shot put, discus, hammer throw, javelin) to lead the team.

Raven Clay earned the honor in the 100-meter hurdles while Christine Zimmermann was rewarded for her performance in the 800-meter run.
