Oilers Track Concludes National Championship

The University of Findlay men's and women's outdoor track and field teams completed the final day of the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday, May 25 in Pueblo, Colo.  The men finished the event in a tie for ninth place with 28 points while the women tied for 24th with ten points.

Derrick Vicars led the Oilers on the final day, taking second in the shot put with a toss of 62'10.00 to earn All-American honors.

The Oilers also saw two other individuals earn All-American honors in the shot put as Taylor Miller and Darren Bass placed fourth and seventh, respectively, in the event.

Miller had a toss of 60'06.00 while Bass had a throw of 58'09.25.

Marcus Vicars finished 11th in the event as well with a distance of 55'05.50.

Tim Sanders earned All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles as he finished seventh with a time of 53.90 and also teamed with John Guagenti, Michael Travis and Dillon Webster to place eighth in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:10.85, earning All-American honors in the process.

Jessica Rowland added a 19th place finish in the shot put with a toss of 44'00.75 for the women on the final day as well.
