Stollings | Kniesly Named 2021-22 Findlay Athletes of the Year

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021-22 Athlete of the Year Awards. For the second consecutive year, swimming and diving star Tim Stollings has earned the James D. Houdeshell Male Athlete of the Year award and golfer Kristina Kniesly has earned the Sharon G. Milligan Female Athlete of the Year.

Junior Tim Stollings put together yet another unbelievable season in the pool, helping lead the men's swimming and diving team to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championship, the highest finish in program history. Stollings, a native of Prichard, West Virginia, earned all-American in six different events including a national runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Along with collecting the most all-American awards in a single season in program history, Stollings was named the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athlete of the Year after winning the conference championship in seven different events and leading the team to a fifth-consecutive conference crown. In his career, Findlay's standout has earned 10 all-American awards, is a two-time G-MAC Athlete of the Year, is a three-time G-MAC Swimmer of the Meet, and has won 21 individual conference titles.

Senior Kristina Kniesly, who has been a mainstay in the lineup for five years, had the perfect senior season, leading Findlay to the NCAA Division II National Championship, the first team national champion at Findlay since 2009. For her performance this season, Kniesly was named first team all-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), just the second NCAA DII first-team recipient in program history. Kniesly, a Logansport, Indiana native, set new program and conference scoring records for both single-season and career on her way to earning the 2022 G-MAC Player of the Year award. This spring Kniesly won three tournaments including earning medalist at the G-MAC Championship and led the Oilers to a perfect spring in which the team won all eight tournaments in which they played.
