Oilers Sweep Cardinals

The University of Findlay baseball team swept Saginaw Valley State University in a doubleheader on Sunday, April 3 at Fifth Third Field. The Oilers won the first game 4-1 and then came away with a 6-2 victory in the second contest to run their record to 4-15-1 on the year with a 2-8 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, Preston Zachrich pitched a gem, allowing only one run on seven hits in seven innings of work to improve to 1-1 on the year.

Jason Reitenbach had a two-run home run in the fifth to lead the offense.

Reid Rothenbuhler added three hits and a run-batted-in while Victor Migliore finished with a pair of hits and also knocked in a run.

In the second game, the Oilers broke open a 2-2 tie in the sixth with four runs in the bottom of the frame as Aaron Geis was credited with the victory.

Geis improved to 1-1 on the year by throwing one inning of scoreless ball in relief of Darrell Thobe, who started and gave up two runs on four hits in five innings of action.

Reitenbach drove in two runs with a double in the pivotal sixth inning to lead the Oilers offensive attack.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 6 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to face Tiffin University in a twin bill beginning at 1 pm.
