Blue Knights, Oilers Split

The University of Findlay baseball team split a doubleheader with Urbana University on Tuesday, April 12 at Fifth Third Field to give them a 7-20-1 record on the season. The Oilers lost the first game 3-2 and then won 2-0 in the nightcap.

Tied 2-2 entering the ninth inning of the first game, the Blue Knights manufactured a run to give them a 3-2 lead. The Oilers then left a runner on second in the bottom of the frame as Ethan James took the loss after allowing one run on two hits in two innings of work.

Troy Balduf pitched seven innings as the starter and allowed two runs, none earned, on three hits while striking out six.

Dylan Cintula drove in both runs for the Oilers at the plate.

In the second game, Aaron Geis and Derek Draper combined to allow only three hits on the mound for Findlay.

Draper picked up the victory in relief of Geis as the Oilers scored both of their runs, unearned, in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Cintula and Kyle Wilson registered the Oilers only two hits in the game.

Findlay will hit the field again this weekend with a four-game set against Lake Erie College at home. The Oilers and Storm will have doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 1 pm each day.
