Oilers Split With Bellarmine, Pick Up First Win

The University of Findlay baseball team split a double header to close out their four-game series against Bellarmine University on Sunday, Feb. 24 in Louisville, Ky.

In game one, Bellarmine took the lead early and went on to win 4-1. The Oilers only run came in the sixth when Jon Shollenberger scored on a Reid Rothenbuhler double down the right field line.

Shollenberger lead Findlay at the plate going 2-for-3 while Rothenbuhler, Dylan Cintula and Jordan Garcia each chipped in with a hit.

Ethan James pitched all six innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out two.

The Oilers picked up their first win of the season with a 10-3 win in game two.

Findlay got the ball rolling in the first when Shollenerger scored on a Tommy Roush sacrifice fly to right field, then Victor Migliore doubled down the left field line to score Rothenbuhler.

After tacking on one in the second on a Rothenbuhler single, the Oilers' bats exploded for five in the sixth and two in the seventh to end the weekend on a high note.

Rousch led the team at the plate going 3-for-4 with four RBI's and a run scored. Rothenbuhler also had three hits and an RBI while Blake Schmenk and Shollenberger had two hits each.

The Oilers end their opening weekend with a 1-3 record. The will be back in action on Sunday, March 3 against Gannon.
