Oilers Beat Tiffin 3-2 In Walk-Off Fashion

The University of Findlay baseball team was victorious against Tiffin University on Thursday, March 28 in Findlay, Ohio.

After Tiffin put two runs on the board in the first, the Oilers cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first when Blake Schmenk scored on an errant throw by the right fielder after a Jon Shollenberger single.

Findlay was then able to tie the game in the fifth when Schmenk singled home Dylan Cintula.

With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Reid Rothenbuhler was the hero with a walk-off single with the bases loaded to score Shollenberger for the 3-2 win.

Rothenbuhler led the Oilers at the plate going 3-for-5 with a double and the game-winning RBI. Victor Migliore was 2-for-4, while Schmenk and Shollenberger each chipped in with an RBI.

Drew Hargrove went eight strong innings giving up two earned runs on nine hits while striking out 10. Mason Mayberry was credited with the win for Findlay.

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow when they host Grand Valley State University in a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.
