Findlay Splits Games vs. Urbana

The University of Findlay baseball team traveled to Chillicothe, OH to take on the Blue Knights of Urbana University in a double header on March 11. Game one ended with the Oilers on top, 16-9 and game two ended with the Blue Knights on tpo 11-4.

GAME 1:

In game one, offense was prevalent as the Oilers jumped out to a big lead in the top of the first inning as they scored seven runs thanks to hits from Joe Sickler, Eric Riha, Dylan Cintula, and Michael Louis.  

The scoring continued in the second as Austin Adams hit his first career homerun on a blast that cleared the left-field fence, putting Findlay ahead 8-0.

Urbana would score three runs in the bottom of the second, making the score 8-3.

The offense would continue and when all was said and done, the Oilers were on top by a final of 16-9.

Drew Hargrove got the win on the mound for Findlay moving his record to 1-1 on the year.

GAME 2:

Game two began with an opposite story line as Urbana began with an offensive outburst, scoring five runs in 1/3 of an inning off starter Mason Mayberry. AJ Cecil then took over.

The onslaught continued in the third as the Blue Knights scored two more, making the score 7-1 after three.

By the seventh inning, Urbana held an 11-1 lead that would stand, despite three runs from Findlay in the bottom half of the inning.

Mayberry took the loss on the mound.

The Oilers are back in action next Wednesday, March 19th, for their home-opener vs. the Dragons of Tiffin University. The game is set to begin at 1:00pm.
